Re Dr Mukerji Retiring

Dr Evans, Dr Tayor, Dr Mason and Dr Wareing would like to make all of our patients aware that Dr Mukerji will be retiring from his role as a partner at Stonebridge Surgery in May 2019 after holding this position for more than 15 years. This news would normally be met with great sorrow, however on this occasion there is a silver lining to the tale! Dr Mukerji will continue to work at Stonebridge Surgery one day a week, so all his vast experience will not be lost and the excellent therapeutic relationships he has built up with many of our patients can continue.

Dr Mukerji is reducing his working time to allow him to spend more time with his family and to indulge in his love of travelling. During his time at the practice he has demonstrated unwavering professionalism, dedication and compassion and we are therefore delighted that he will not be leaving us completely. In his role as a GP trainer he was the lead trainer for both Dr Mason and Dr Wareing and therefore his influence will hopefully continue to be felt at Stonebridge Surgery for many years to come. Dr Wareing will be taking on a role as a GP trainer in the near future, to work alongside Dr Mason, to help ensure that the practice continues to be a local force in training GPs. As well as continuing at Stonebridge Surgery, Dr Mukerji will also be continuing in his role of Chair and Clinical Lead of Greater Preston Clinical Commission Group.

The practice is well prepared to allow Dr Mukerji a well-deserved reduction in hours. We hope that our patients are aware that we now have 2 excellent advanced nurse practitioners who have undergone extensive training which equips them to see patients independently, just like a GP.  Lesley Spall is primarily involved with looking after our nursing home, residential home and wiser patients, having wide reaching experience in this field. She has been at the practice now for two years and has been an excellent addition. Our second Nurse Practitioner, Julie Barber, is the former lead Nurse of the local District Nursing service, and has completed her further training whilst at Stonebridge Surgery.  She brings a fantastic wealth of knowledge from her previous roles in the community to the practice, alongside her recent enhanced training.  Dr Isa, our popular longstanding doctor will also be increasing his role to ensure that Stonebridge Surgery remains excellently equipped to look after our patients moving forwards.  The remaining partners would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Mukerji for all he has done for the practice over the last 15 years and to wish him a fun filled, exhilarating, enlightening time, as long as he remembers to come to work on the days he is meant to of course!
